Language

 1) Write the definition of the following key language for newspaper front pages (you may want to add an example for each from our Daily Mirror CSP):

Pug: used to promote exciting news or promotions

Splash Head: the lead story of a newspaper

Stand first: short piece of text in a newspaper article below the headline (= title) that gives the most important facts and ideas that are contained in the article

2)Gary linkers feud with BBC and the government

3)2 conservative party members. This was because daily mirror is a heavy labour supporter.

4)The front page of the newspaper is important in attracting an audience, particularly regarding tabloid newspapers. The choice and style of the main headline and central image are important in attracting the reader in communicating the view the newspaper is taking on the particular story featured.

5)Each of them is proportionate to the others. The text gets larger when the image is larger, and the opposite occurs when the image is smaller.

Representations
1)The Daily Mirror supports the Labour Party and is against the Conservative Party. Generally, the newspaper will act as a voice for normal people (hence the old slogan 'Fighting For You') and go against the rich and powerful (like the Conservative Party in their row with Gary Lineker).MATSHEAD IS RED WHICH IS THE COLOUR OF LABOUR

2)They portray him as self-assured, proud of his remarks, and unafraid of the repercussions since Lineker attempted to uphold the Labour Party's core values of equality.

3)They want to hold him accountable for Lineker's actions because he is most likely a conservative member, which explains his strong beliefs. He also appears under pressure and has a serious expression in his photo.

4)The Daily Mirror, a tabloid and left-wing daily, will publicly criticise the Conservative government and back Labour.

5)conservatives are seen as rude and harsh people however labour politicians are seen as kind and respectful people.it reinforces the stereotypes as it criticizes people
